4 Stars Good shredder, safety feature not so good
I have been pleased with the performance of the shredder so far. We are able to shred about six pieces at a time and it will run for about 10 minutes before it has to cool down. I was disappointed though when I realized the auto shut off that is supposed to occur when a finger touches the area around the opening does not respond to little fingers. It appears that toddler sized fingers do not register. I am going to contact the company to find out if this is a known malfunction.

I was looking for a quiet, robust shredder that can shred documents into very small pieces (so that you cannot identify any numbers). After browsing and realizing that you can easily spend $500 to $1,000 I decided to go with this model and I wasn’t disappointed.
It’s quiet, robust and handles medium volumes in our small office. The quality is sound and it produces tiny pieces of confetti that are absolutely secure.

Had purched a number of cheaper machines through the years. Mainly because they were cheap and worked. Then got sick of buying new ones all the time and decided to invest a little more for a quality machine. I swear this thing could eat nails!….It’s so quiet and powerful that you will be amazed too. And shreds to tiny pieces..no strips….GREAT ITEM! The paper slot will chew up a cedit card and it has a separate slot for CD’s…..also a sefety feature built in, so if little hands get too close it will automatically shut down….Nice, especially if you have liitle kids.

This paper shredder cuts paper into shreds 1/4″ long and 1/16″ wide. That means a piece of 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper turns into 5,984 micro cut shreds.
Suffice it to say, your document will not be reassembled.
When the machine is shredding paper, it is very quiet. Someone asleep in an adjacent room would not be disturbed.
When shredding CD’s and credit cards, the machine cuts strips and is slightly louder than when cutting paper.
There is a built in safety feature that shuts the machine off if your hand gets too close to the blade opening while the machine is running. Also, there is a reverse button to help clear jams.
The bags that come with it are far too large for the bin. I choose not to use a bag and just empty it into a larger trash can when it is full. It also come with a bottle of shredder oil.
The power cord is 5 feet long.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

Works great, but it’s HUGE! The most attractive things about it are its ability to shred reasonably thick stacks of paper without choking. Be careful to lubricate the cutter according to directions or its life will be dramatically shortened.

We have had this shredder for quite a few months now, and we absolutely love it. It is much quieter then our previous one, and is a little work horse. I would highly recommend this product to any small business or home office.

4 Stars Good Choice for Office or Home
We recently bought this shredder for our office and it’s shared between two people. I looked at lots of different styles and features and finally decided on this one. The day we got it, I tried to cause it to fail – to test it out. It took everything I gave it. It only jammed once because I tried to put way too much paper through at one time and when that happened, I hit the reverse button and it all came out with ease. It has a nice capacity and for those who are trying to make eco-friendly purchases, you don’t need to put a bag in this bin. The casters also make it very easy to move between the two offices if needed.
The only negative I can say is that when you do empty it out, you will want to reach under and grab the paper pieces that are still “stuck” in the blades. It’s easy to do and doesn’t take long. I think with most shredders that cut the paper in to smaller pieces than just strips, it will have a tendency to have pieces left in the blades.
I like this so much, I’m thinking of buying one for my home.

SUPER buy! I run a small doctors office and I have quite a bit to shred. This product is great. It does not bogg down with continued shredding. Fast and efficient. Handles 17 pages with ease. It has a special CD/DVD shredder that is super. The only con is that is is a little messy, when you pull out the drawer some of the shredding falls behind the door and you have to sweep it out, but for the price and quality it is a must have.

It easily shreds 8 pieces at a time. Quiet operation compared to other models I’ve used. The size and the fact that this shredder easily fits under a counter or a desk is a plus. I’ve found the safety sensor a little tricky, you have to hold the sides of the paper when feeding it but this has not been a big deal. I’m really think we got a very good product for a very good price.

Needed to replace my worn out Royal 1000 & after scanning a few choices, settled on Fellowes SB-87Cs. Moderately priced for a heavy duty home/office shredder but the perfomance is top shelf. Strong motor to power thru 10/12 sheets at a time & make short order of a stack of waste. Generous basket w/ storage area for manual, bags & oil. The first day out the box my wife put it to the test & her smile let me know I made the right choice. A bit messy when emptying but I can live w/ that! Tony S. Harlem, NY

After buying 3 inexpensive shredders and having them breakdown, I bit the bullet and spent a little more money for this fellows shredder and it was well worth it. I don’t know why I couldn’t find this product in the stores. Fellowes is a great brand name and it performs beautifully. I love the fact that is has a removable basket to empty inside along with a plastic bag to dump the shredding. I also empty the plastic bag and just keep reusing it, which was always a messy job. It came with oil to maintain the shredding blades after each full bag. I have put it through it’s paces and it performs, up to 15 pages, never once jamming. This definitely is a quality product. I purchased it over a year ago and it just keeps performing like new. I guess it’s true–you get what you pay for.

2 Stars Unable to get replacement parts
Great shredder UNTIL IT BROKE! I called customer service and they diagnosed the problem over the phone. Sold me a replacement gear set that will “fix the problem”. (My unit was 2 months outside of the warranty period.) When I took the unit apart to install the new gears I discovered the gears that were broken were not included in the replacement set. When I called back, I was told that the two gears that were broken in my unit were not available for purchase (since they never break, duh). And to make it worse, since I had already installed the gears they sent me, I could not return them. So now I am out another [..].
