I bought several shredders under the price of $100 and non last longer than a year with below average use. This is so far the most satisfying shredder I bought and hope it will last. All the features are working as it advertised, especially the credit card shredding.

I have had two other shredders that ended up breaking after only a year. Fellowes is an excellent company. This shredder is heavy duty with a great warranty. I saved $50 by using Amazon compared to my local Office Depot and had free shipping!

I purchased this shredder. Ordered it Tuesday afternoon, got free super saver shipping and received it Friday afternoon. Unbelievable. Amazon really knows how to ship.
There are a lot of reviews already but I thought I could add a few things.
A reviewer commented about the mess in the shred bin. Yeah, but it is only a minor problem. All my past shredders were worse. I shredded some CDs and DVDs and they make a mess because of the paint on the non-writable side. If you jar the bin slightly and push the pile down with your hand before pulling the bin out the rest of the way, you can minimize the mess. But with CDs and DVDs, some of the stuff is so light it blows around.
Someone commented about the on/off switches. There are two. A master rocker switch in back that I would guess you always leave on. The switch on top you might turn on and off. If you leave the unit on (both switches) all the time, the blue light will run and use a little power. If you really want to be green, I guess you could turn it off.
I want to stress what some other reviewers said about this monster. This is by far the best shredder (and most expensive) I’ve owned. I owned about three el cheapos before. They all burned out. I use this at home and I’m a nut about shredding anything with any personal information on it. So I might use it more than the average household and I can’t imagine ever stressing this beast. But I did give it a shot (below). For day-to-day shredding, this thing wouldn’t break a sweat. It is almost overkill but I could see this unit lasting years.
While vacuuming out the unit after shredding the DVDs, I looked at the business end of the shredder. There is a spindle of nasty looking, sharp metal teeth between plastic guides.
The power cord is bent at 90 degrees so the unit will sit closer to the wall. Nice touch that a lot of other manufacturers should do.
I had a pile of paper to shred since my last shredder burned out. It sawed through that pile in a few minutes. My old shredder would have loudly churned through the pile in about two hours. I always dreaded shredding before. Now, I’m looking for things to shred. The other thing is, this unit is very quiet. It produces a low hum as opposed to the much higher pitched whine of cheap shredders that beg for mercy if you give them a couple of sheets at a time.
The teeth are metal so follow the instructions and oil them. Nuff said.
Now for the main selling point. I had about 250 CDs and DVDs (old computer backups). You don’t want to just toss your personal data in the trash – you have to shred that stuff. Most reviews of most shredders never mention shredding DVDs which seem a little tougher to me. This unit had no problem with the CDs or DVDs. I shredded them in groups of ten. I oiled the teeth a couple of times during the process. Awesome!
I used the guide for the credit cards, CDs and DVDs. I think there are probably tougher teeth in the middle and the guide makes sure the plastics go through in the right path.
The auto shutoff works as advertised. The teeth are so far down that I can’t see a baby’s finger getting in there. There’s no way an adult’s finger could get in. Maybe Gene Simmon’s tongue (Kiss) could get in the slot. 
Look no further. Buy this shredder.

It does what it’s supposed to do, but when you take the bin out to empty it there are pieces of paper all over the inside. Also you have a renewable bag you have to purhase for the inside an additional expense. Also my box wasn’t complete a part was missing but Fellows shipped it and received it a week later.

I bought this shredder based upon previous customer reviews. For home office use, it serves me well. Great product, and at a great price. I am really taking time to write this review, to re-iterate what other customers have said about Fellowes’ customer service. According to the directions, there is a document holder that attaches to the back of this shredder. My doc holder wasn’t included in the packaging. Not really a big deal, but I sent them an email anyway. I got a response within 2 hours! Seems the manual was out of date, and the document holder isn’t included with this model anymore. They apologized, and said they were mailing me one anyway, and gave me a tracking number. Received the doc holder 5 days later. It’s rare to find customer service like that nowadays! I would have been happy with just the e-mail response with an explanation.

5 Stars Shredder Oil Saved My Shredder
I was having continous problems with my shredder, a Fellowes PS80C-2 jamming and averheating. It was to the point that i was ready to replace it. I had used other oils to no avail. After two applications of Shredmaster Shredder Oil, my shredder returned to like new condition. I put the oil directly on the shredder. The instructions say to saturate paper and then shred it.

Did about 4hours of shredding so far runs good, Its a little slow but can be expected for the sheet cap at this price. Keep oiled with Shredder oil and keep to about 6-7 sheets It will run like a champ!

I just bought this shredder so this is more of a preliminary review.
I bought this one to replace an OfficeMax shredder I still have.
The OfficeMax shredder is a very good one, very quiet and does a reasonably good job. Unfortunately I abused it by feeding in stuff that was a bit too much for it. Now it will only shred on one side, so it needed to be replaced.
So I bought the Fellowes Intellishred SB-89Ci Shredder.
This is a sturdy shredder. What I particullarly like about it is the electronic sensor that warns you ahead of time that you are putting too much in too shred. In fact it won’t turn on at all if the stack is too thick. So I simply take a few sheets out till the red light turns of and it gobbles it up in seconds. Just under 6 seconds. The rated speed is 10 feet per minute which means 12″ every 6 seconds. So an ll” sheet takes a bit less.
Like some have said it is a bit loud. Louder than my old shredder, but it is a low growl more or less. You can tell it has a very powerful motor and I expect it to last a while. By the way it comes with a 2 year warranty on the whole shredder (by the manufacturer) and a life time warranty on the teeth.
The shreds are very small so it takes a while for the bin to fill. I can usually compress it a couple of times before I need to empty it.
I expect it will last a while.
4 Stars IMPRESSIVE!
I have been searching for a mid-grade shredder for sometime to keep our small office up-to-speed with shredding documents. This shredder can handle a lot of shredding in a day! I have shredded a stack of paper about 500 sheets high (or more) and it only took about 7 minutes to shred all of that! This is amazing compared to our last shredder. The only downside is that only about 8-10 sheets can pass through at a time otherwise the machine gets jammed. BUT, the reverse mechanism is amazing and gets the paper out ASAP. I highly recommend this shredder for anybody searching for a shredder to accommodate medium amounts of shredding. Also, the machine is very quite and the safety features are great!

I highly recommend this shredder!
The only problem I discovered is that there were some sharp edges inside the waste bin that would puncture the receptacle bag so I filed them off. Now… it’s perfect!
5 Stars One Great Shredder
When you’re done paying $29.99 for shredders that aren’t worth the $.99, take a look at this one. it does exactly what it advertises, and doesn’t stop or require you to pull out jammed paper. the one area of notice is the paper bin window which doesn’t give you a reading if a bag is in it (naturally). other than that, this is one hell of a shredder.
5 Stars Best shredder Ive ever owned
If your fed up with shredders that don’t shred then get this one that does what it says it will do. The only caveat is don’t try to force too many pages through at one time. Nothing works forever at full throttle.
