4 Stars Shreds nicely - small opening
This shredder shreds very nicely, and the basket is easy to pull out and dump (it would be difficult to put a bag in it, as it slides into a slot). Assembly was easy, and it doesn’t look half bad next to my dresser (I was afraid it would look cheap, but is pretty fair). It is nice and small, so not as obvious as my older slightly wider model (which didn’t really seem to hold more paper). My minor complaint is the small, not so wide, not so deep, opening. You have to direct the papers into it carefully, however, that being said, it keeps you from jamming it - so that may not truly be a negative. Overall I am pleased with this product.
5 Stars A decent shredder
On the night the shredder was delivered, it took me no more than 5 mins to unpack box and set it up. I like the collapsible bin design, and it indeed greatly reduces consumption of non-recyclable plastic. I shredded about 5 years bank and credit card statements, and they filled about two 13 gallons garbage bag, fully compacted by my foot. The motor case even didn’t get warm afterwards. I only tried about 6 pages at a time because I believe that will help motor from being overtaxed and should keep it running longer time. I did lubricate the shredder after every 5 full bins by several pages drenched with peanut oil. The curved feeding slot design is much simple and elegant, and does not require any “high” tech proximity gadget found in some Fellowes models. The overall noise is much lower than a Fellowes in my office previously. Regardless how fancy it is, a shredder is a shredder. As long as its noise level, capacity and duty cycle meet your needs, it’s a good shredder.
4 Stars Good little shredder
Aside from the over-the-top “we’re greener than thou” packaging (a serious case of greenwashing), this is a good, solid shredder. It chops stuff up good, OK? ;o) That’s what this kind of shredder (vs. the Buckethead kind of shredder) is supposed to do - whether it has a long life is anybody’s guess (I’ve gone through a couple others already over the years). It was very easy to put together, and the bin is made out of fabric, so it packages up quite a bit smaller than it otherwise might (thus the claim of “green” - yeesh). Yes it would be nice if it were a “diamond cut” that chopped everything up in to itty-bitty pieces but it says “crosscut”, OK? That’s what it is! And that’s why it’s less expensive than the others. It was a great deal on gold box when I bought it - less so now.
5 Stars Great for home office or casual use - maybe okay for small biz
I have a home office and wanted a decent shredder - this fit the bill perfectly. Makes easy work of receipts, old credit cards or other information you don’t want to leave out by the street. Relatively quiet, simple to set up, works well and shreds to a level that puts the mind at ease. Uses a cross cut pattern that would make remains unpalatable for all but the absolutely most determined.

Excellent high quality product that we have used relentlessly since receiving. How quickly papar receipts build up. Thank goodness we have shredders that can handle the loads without blowing a fuse or getting permanently jammed.

3 Stars Aurora AS1040C shreds well, but overheats
I wanted a microshredder for disposing of a lot of personal documents following my mother’s death. The Aurora AS1040C does an excellent job of microshredding. However,I was disappointed to find that it consistently stops working due to overheating after 10 to 15 minutes of continuous use. Once it overheats it takes awhile to cool off to the point where it will work again. By contrast, I own an inexpensive strip cut shredder that works virtually nonstop for hours. The Aurora AS104C also lacks credit card or CD/DVD shredding capability, but I like being able to roll it easily. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive microshredder that you don’t expect to consistently keep in use for more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time, then you’ll probably be happy with the Aurora AS104C.
5 Stars Best Shredder - Nothing I have found can touch this for the money!
This is a REAL confetti shredder. The pieces are very fine and much smaller than other brands that claim to be confetti shredders. (Compare the shred sizes!)
Anything else I have found with such small shreds has been much more than twice the price. Smaller shreds mean more security and less time between emptying the basket, because the shreds take up less room per page.
Works very quickly and efficiently, and I have not found this to be much louder than other comparable shredders.
I have used 13 gallon bags to catch the shreds in the basket. This makes cleaning out the shreds much easier and neater.
The plastic on the unit base is a little thin and I have had a few small cosmetic cracks, but this has not affected performance so far and the unit has held up well.

3 Stars LOUD!!!!
Works great. Shredding into “Confetti shreds” are much better than the “strip shreds” because you can fit alot more of it into bags. The large receptacle is nice: no need to empty as often. Unfortunately this shredder is SUPER LOUD which is annoying for a small office like mine. That knocks it down from 5 to 3 stars.

I’VE Purchased 2 shredders Prior To This One, Not This BRAND/MODEL And I’ve Got To Say This Aurora IS Much Faster,Much Quieter AND IS THE BEST OF THE 3 BY FAR! 5 Stars Ugly but gets the job done!
Hi I purchased this over a year ago locally after purchasing several other ones that really sucked. When purchasing an appliance it is easy to get sucked in by a good looking machine that really does not work so well. I had purchased several shredders from Staples. While they have some good looking shredders I can say from personal experience that they suck. So I just looked for some hardcore stuff that can shred anything and into tiny pieces because one thing I learned from working at a Japanese insurance company is that privacy and confidentiality are very important. I was trained to shred every document that had any personal information of the clients to ensure nobody steals information. So I figured this is a good habit to start doing at home to protect myself from identity theft. This thing really does shred CDs and DVDs one at a time of course. The confetti cut is a great feature since with a regular shredder it just turns the paper into spaghetti strings which can easily be reassembled if somebody really wants your information from the garbage you throw out. This thing is ugly as hell, but it can go for hours and hours non stop shredding, seriously I know because my neighbor borrows it to shred her mountains of mail every couple of months. After several hours you have to give it a little break for a couple of minutes and you can go ahead shred for more hours. I prefer shredding at least once a week. After using it so much finally my neighbor has decided to ask me to order one for her and one for her boyfriend she is going to give him as an xmas gift!

Works fine, but chips are rectangles about 1/8″ by 3/8″, not tiny squares like I expected. Even 1/8″ by 1/8″ squares would be better than rectangles.

The product works as expected. I have been using it on a backlog of material to be shredded and it keeps up fine.

I’m a big shredder user, and this one broke after 2 months of use. I wouldn’t get it again.

4 Stars Nice shredder
This shredder works well. Wish I could put paper into the basket without shredding. The mechansim fills the basket top so that you cannot easily put any other sheets, that is other than shredded sheets into the container.

3 Stars Aurora AS890C 8 Sheet Crosscut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with Basket
The Aurora AS890C 8 Sheet Crosscut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with Basket works well. I had an Aurora shredder before, then tried a couple of other brands and I will definitely use Aurora from now on. Until it arrived, I couldn’t really tell how this model compared to the model I liked so much (that died a while ago and I didn’t write down the model number), and it is not as durable. I seem to be hard on shredders, and this is holding up, so for the price and the satisfaction with the brand, I think it will be a reliable shredder for me for a while.
5 Stars Works as expected
Have had this for a few months now and it’s been very good. It shreds reasonably quickly, can do some mail without having to open it (though sometimes those stupid credit card offers can come in a rather thick envelope - don’t try that without opening it). Easy to empty and the auto mode works well. I haven’t hit the thermal cutoff yet. The pieces are fairly small. Probably not the best security out there but seems good enough. Better than a strip shredder for sure. Overall a very good buy in my opinion.

The Aurora AS890C 8-sheet shredder does a fast job and is much quieter than the last one I burned up. It will jam if too many pages are fed in and it was hard to clear the cutters to get started again. Overall a good value if you’re careful.
