Collapsible Basket for Easy Storage
The faster you shred your personal and professional information, the happier you will be. When you’re ready to shred, setting up the C1210 is a breeze. All you have to do is lift up the basket frame, push the posts into position, attach the shredder to the basket, and you’re ready to dispose of your private information.
Plenty of Features and Ample Shredding Power
The C1210 features stylish, glossy finish that compliments any desk or office space, and the slide-out, 4.28-gallon mesh wastebasket easily stores 280 sheets of shredded material. Feed up to 12 20-pound sheets at a time (single CDs or credit cards), and don’t worry about removing paper clips or staplers — the C1210 is powerful enough to tear right through them, too. And if you become overzealous and feed too much into your shredder, don’t fret–the C1210 has a manual reverse feature that clears the paper jams in a snap.
Aurora has designed the C1210 with overload and thermal protection so you don’t destroy the shredder’s mechanisms. The auto-start feature fires up the shredder as soon as you insert a sheet, and the simple LED on top of the C1210 indicates power, basket full, and overload. And for added safety, the shredder features an angled paper slot so you’ll never nick a finger.

4 Stars Shreds nicely - small opening
This shredder shreds very nicely, and the basket is easy to pull out and dump (it would be difficult to put a bag in it, as it slides into a slot). Assembly was easy, and it doesn’t look half bad next to my dresser (I was afraid it would look cheap, but is pretty fair). It is nice and small, so not as obvious as my older slightly wider model (which didn’t really seem to hold more paper). My minor complaint is the small, not so wide, not so deep, opening. You have to direct the papers into it carefully, however, that being said, it keeps you from jamming it - so that may not truly be a negative. Overall I am pleased with this product.
5 Stars A decent shredder
On the night the shredder was delivered, it took me no more than 5 mins to unpack box and set it up. I like the collapsible bin design, and it indeed greatly reduces consumption of non-recyclable plastic. I shredded about 5 years bank and credit card statements, and they filled about two 13 gallons garbage bag, fully compacted by my foot. The motor case even didn’t get warm afterwards. I only tried about 6 pages at a time because I believe that will help motor from being overtaxed and should keep it running longer time. I did lubricate the shredder after every 5 full bins by several pages drenched with peanut oil. The curved feeding slot design is much simple and elegant, and does not require any “high” tech proximity gadget found in some Fellowes models. The overall noise is much lower than a Fellowes in my office previously. Regardless how fancy it is, a shredder is a shredder. As long as its noise level, capacity and duty cycle meet your needs, it’s a good shredder.
4 Stars Good little shredder
Aside from the over-the-top “we’re greener than thou” packaging (a serious case of greenwashing), this is a good, solid shredder. It chops stuff up good, OK? ;o) That’s what this kind of shredder (vs. the Buckethead kind of shredder) is supposed to do - whether it has a long life is anybody’s guess (I’ve gone through a couple others already over the years). It was very easy to put together, and the bin is made out of fabric, so it packages up quite a bit smaller than it otherwise might (thus the claim of “green” - yeesh). Yes it would be nice if it were a “diamond cut” that chopped everything up in to itty-bitty pieces but it says “crosscut”, OK? That’s what it is! And that’s why it’s less expensive than the others. It was a great deal on gold box when I bought it - less so now.
5 Stars Great for home office or casual use - maybe okay for small biz
I have a home office and wanted a decent shredder - this fit the bill perfectly. Makes easy work of receipts, old credit cards or other information you don’t want to leave out by the street. Relatively quiet, simple to set up, works well and shreds to a level that puts the mind at ease. Uses a cross cut pattern that would make remains unpalatable for all but the absolutely most determined.
5 Stars Study, high quality and a steel for under $69.00!!!
Excellent high quality product that we have used relentlessly since receiving. How quickly papar receipts build up. Thank goodness we have shredders that can handle the loads without blowing a fuse or getting permanently jammed.

5 Stars exactly as described
No trouble at all with performance or quality. Shipped on time. Very satisfied.
4 Stars Great, cheap shredder.
We had one of these for several years; it finally failed after chewing on a particularly large bunch of adhesive labels. My wife was very happy that the same model was still for sale, so we just bought another one. It’s very compact, inexpensive, and works great for our personal use (shredding old credit card statements etc.).
5 Stars super great
this is one of the best shreadders i have ever used.
I highlt recomend this shreadder. AAA+++
4 Stars P70CM Paper Shredder
I think it’s perfect for a small office. It doesn’t take a lot of space. Looks very nice. Words very well. And the price is right. I really like it.
1 Star This shredder is worthless!!!!!
After our first shredder died, we decided to try this one which is the cross shredder. It constantly jammed and we had to use tweezers to pull out the stuck pieces in the teeth before it would operate again. Now suddenly it has completely died. No amount of work on it will get it operating! Never again!

1 Star please read the fine print before you purchase
Hidden withing the instructions, they tell you to keep this unplugged unless it is in use. How inconvenient is that? I used this about 3 times before it was totally unusable. Guess the fact it was plugged in, it got fried by a power surge. Completely useless. It is headed for the curbside trash.
1 Star Royal VF1700mx versus Fellowes SB87Cs
My Fellowes PS-70 strip shredder purchased 12/1994 finally shattered its metal drive gear on bank statements after 14 years of service. After some investigations in to a new shredder, I narrowed my decision down to the Royal VF1700MX and Fellowes SB-87Cs. Both these units are heavy duty, but I could only find one review for the VF1700MX even though it has been on the market for a year. I purchased both and compared them in a side by side test. Here is what I found.
Royal VF1700MX: Purchased at local warehouse club for ~$100.
+ Heavy Duty 6A @ 115VAC
+ 17 sheet (20 lb paper) 10 minutes continuous
+ cross-cut confetti = 0.170″ x 1.483″
+ weight = 28 lbs (no box packaging)
+ warranty = 1yr; 7yrs for cutter
Fellowes SB-87Cs: Display model purchased for ~$100
+ Heavy Duty 5A @ 120VAC
+ 15 sheet (20 lb paper) 20 minutes continuous
+ cross-cut confetti = 0.166″ x 1.642″
+ weight = 38 lbs (no box packaging)
+ warranty = 1yr; 7yrs for cutter
Fellowes PS-70: Dead - Purchased 12/1994 (remanufacturered)
+ Medium Duty 2.3A @ 120VAC
+ 8 sheet (20 lb paper)
+ strips = 0.250″
+ weight = 30 lbs (no box packaging)
Comparison Tests:
1. 9-sheet Shred
The motor speed of the VF1700MX dropped to about 1/2 during shredding. The SB-87Cs barely changed speed under the same load.
2. 3-page Bank Statement with 20 Check Carbon and 4 staples holding it all together.
The motor speed of the VF1700MX dropped to 1/3 this time during shredding. The motor speed of the SB-87Cs decreased slightly under the same load.
3. 4-page Bank Privacy Disclosure Letter in Standard Envelope (sealed)
The motor speed of the VF1700MX dropped to a very slow speed, but it completed the shredding. The motor speed of the SB-87Cs decreased only slightly under the same load.
Conclusion:
From strictly a specsmanship point of view the VF1700MX and SB-87Cs are very similar. In fact, the VF1700MX appears a bit better with its 6 amp motor and 17 sheet capacity. The truth is in the tests. The SB-87Cs tore through everything with relative ease. The VF1700MX struggled through all and at one point seemed like it might stop (jam) during the third test. Under no load, the VF1700MX makes a slight whining noise while the SB-87Cs is relatively quiet. What I see is that simply comparing based on sheet capacity and motor amps (assuming same duty level and shred type) is not accurate.
If you want a reasonably priced heavy duty shredder and you’re having difficulty making a choice, buy them and compare as I have done, or maybe use the weight of the shredder as the deciding factor. The bulk of the weight is in the cutter and motor, mot the plastic housing and electronics. The heavier unit will have a stronger and most likely larger motor, gears, and cutters which translate into a more durable and longer lasting shredder.
The VF1700MX got a free trip back to the store for a full refund. I would not recommend this shredder to anyone who expects “heavy duty” performance as advertised on the box. Never tried it with 17 sheets because I was afraid it might break.
Interestingly, no information can be found on Royal’s web site about the VF1700MX even though it has been selling for about one year. The customer service representative at www.Royal.com said that the VF1700MX was not discontinued, and that there was simply not enough space on the web site to display this item???

4 Stars Small but good
Product was smaller than I expected but does the work of a full size shredder.
4 Stars very good
This desk top sheadder gets the job done.Just don’t insert more than 4 sheets at one time.It SAYS CROOS-CUT but it’s notit’s straight micro cut, even the photo on the box was different from the pieces of paper i had. Overall ifyou don’t havemassive amouts of paper this is the machine you and it’s easy to use. It also comes with a brush and a paper tool just incase paper gets stuck inbetween the blades
5 Stars Great light-duty shredder
I have had this for a month, and purchsed it in spite of quite a few negative reviews because I refuse to spend a fortune on a shredder when all I need it for is credit card junk mail and relatively few banking / confidential documents. It does the job perfectly well. Yes, you should only put in one folded piece of paper at a time (and yes, it has to be folded because the opening is small), but it happily chewed up 30 of these in a row when I was clearing out my desk. Since then, I have used it maybe once or twice a week. The bin is small but perfectly adequate for my needs. Very straightforward to operate. Bottom line - I have found it to be excellent for what it was made for - light home use.
5 Stars mighty midget
If you want a shredder that doesn’t take up a lot of space, this is for you–assuming you don’t have mountains of paper to shred. The machine is easy to use for checks, but 8 1/2″ x 11″ documents have to be folded or torn to fit the narrow (about 4 1/2″) feed slot. You can only do 4 layers at a time.
We have had no problem with the machine stalling. The design is simple and attractive, so that it’s especially suitable for a home or home office. It’s also not too noisy or too heavy.
5 Stars Desktop Shredder
This little shredder is great! It is very compact, has a ample size basket and does a superb job. It’s definitely for the private home or office but I have been extremely pleased. And for the modest price, I don’t think you could do better. I would highly recommend it.!

4 Stars Great heavy duty shredder
This is a fantastic heavy duty shredder. We use it in my office every single day shredding more than 500 pages per day plus CD’s, DVD’s. Not a single problem so far since we bought it about a year ago.
The only problem is the price. Very high but you get what you pay for. I bought before several cheaper machines and now I don’t have any of those.
So it is worth it.
4 Stars Shred It And Keep Business (and Personal Things) Secure!
Our office needed a replacement for a shredder that we had overused and mistreated for about seven years. Shredding, routinely, between 500 -3,000 sheets of paper per day with the curve rising quickly, we needed to find a machine that would 1) deal easily with a seemingly ever increasing volume of paper. 2) shred it into confetti-cut to assure complete destruction of confidential data and 3) had the capacity to shred not only paper, but plastic cards, CDs and to not be easily jammed by commonplace staples and the paper clips that people routinely fail to remove before shredding documents. After a goodly amount of research and discussion, we settled on this Fellows C-320C and, after several months of operation are pleased to report that it is meeting our needs and expectations in all ways.
Fellows is probably one of the better known brands of shredders. I own one at home that I purchased at COSTCO and am delighted with it’s reliable performance after almost two years. I shall expect nothing less than that from this one at work. Not only does it ‘handle’ plastic credit cards, CDs, staples and paper clips - it has a separate slot into which cards and CDs can be inserted for destruction. The confetti-cut setting yields pieces 5/32″ X 1 - 1/8″; small enough to ensure the security we require. It offers a choice of strip or confetti-cut settings. This may be important to you because the settings differ in their shredding capacities. Set on Confetti, it lists itself as having the capacity to shred 7,000 pages per day, and being able to shred 14-16 pages at one pass. Set on Strip-cut (7/32″), a simpler, somewhat less secure, but good for most common usages, it’s daily capacity is upped to 14,000 and the number of pages that can be handled in a single pass (entry) to 26 - 28.
The width of paper is limited to 10″ and the card shredding capacity is far more limited to one per pass or a total of ten per day on either setting.
Regular maintenance is limited to, as with most machines of this type, a biweekly lubing of the cutting element while running in Reverse for a minute. Hopefully, that’s all it takes. It is all other Fellows machines have taken. The lubricant can be had from Fellows (their own brand) or, as I have discovered at home, good quality vegetable oil will accomplish the same thing.
The controls are simple, few and easily intuitive. There are only three warning lights: Door not closed, Paper jam and Need to empty the bin, and only four buttons: Off, Forward, Reverse and a Turbo Jam Release… just in case! The shredding feature itself is, of course, automatically activated as one would expect when material is inserted.
There are certainly other medium-heavy duty office shredders to consider, but we chose this Fellows and have had no regrets!
4 Stars Powershredding at home
Though obviously targeted for an office, light commercial setting, I sought a new, beefier shredder to replace my personal-size Fellowes cross-cutting shredder at home. The latter is still chugging along just fine — kudos to Fellowes — but I grew annoyed with its relatively small basket which seemed to require emptying all the time and which was cumbersome (lifting the whole heavy cutting unit out, little pieces of confetti flying all over, etc.). Besides, the personal-size unit wasn’t rated for chewing up CDs and credit-cards and wouldn’t keep up with the demands for my end-of-year shredding frenzy without rest periods.
The significantly discounted C-320C available through Amazon proved too tempting for my OCD-ness and so I bought one. First, one should take note of the weight — well over 100 pounds. Note as of this review, the Amazon site states a shipping weight of 50 pounds which is obviously in error. This *is* a heavy beast. I’m very grateful it’s on casters which makes moving it a breeze. The large capacity and separately removable basket is easily accessed through the front panel. No more lifting of the actual cutting unit like my personal-size unit and no more pieces of shredded material ending up all over the place. A pleasant and unexpected surprise, for me, was the relative noise-level as compared to my personal-size unit. Because the cutting unit is more “contained” within the C-320C, it’s actually quieter than my personal-size shredder — a real bonus. The C-320C doesn’t hint at straining with larger volumes of paper or even credit-cards. I love it save for one issue which prevents my giving it a 5-star rating: the smell. Particularly when arriving brand new, the C-320C has a strong metal and oil odor which I was able to smell throughout the entire first floor of my house. While I recognized, and still do, that this unit is targeted for commercial applications, the odor in even a large office would not go unnoticed. Thankfully, it seems to be dissipating (or I’m just getting accustomed to it), ;-). Nevertheless, I have absolutely no regrets. This shredder more quietly and expediently devours the avalanche of those pesky credit-card offers mailed to me in volume on a daily basis. There’s no hint of strain or complaint when I shred numerous confidential material I occasionally bring home from my office or print locally which I now no longer need to cart to my office for shredding.
My relative light use of this shredder compared to the target users has not required yet for me to perform the oil-maintenance. I’m hopeful it won’t be messy nor re-infuse the unit with that odor.
